Three Icebreakers and One Path Completion Speech — Celebrating the Joy of Learning at Toastmasters!
Autumn has finally arrived in Tottori, bringing cooler weather and plenty of seasonal delights, from sports days and school excursions to delicious autumn foods. Our October meeting was another perfect opportunity to enjoy the season—this time through learning and personal growth!
We were also delighted to welcome two special visitors from Okayama: our Area Director and former Division Director, who traveled all the way to Tottori to join us.
The meeting began with an induction ceremony for a new member, followed by an exciting Prepared Speeches session featuring four speakers!
Three of them delivered their very first speeches at Toastmasters, known as Icebreakers. Each speaker took on the challenge of introducing themselves and sharing their reasons for joining Toastmasters in their own unique words and styles.
The fourth speaker, meanwhile, presented Reflect on Your Path, the final project of a Pathways learning path. Looking back on a seven-year journey from the beginning of the path to its completion, the speaker shared valuable lessons and reflections gained along the way.
From members taking their very first steps to one celebrating the completion of a long learning journey, the session reminded us of what makes Toastmasters so special: everyone has their own path, and every step offers an opportunity to learn and grow.
In the Table Topics session, we explored the theme of "Convince." Participants were challenged to persuade someone who was firmly attached to a particular belief or opinion. The session was full of creative approaches and practical communication techniques that we could apply in everyday life, especially when trying to influence others and encourage positive changes in their behavior.
Looking ahead, we are planning a special lunch next month to celebrate the 17th anniversary of Tottori Toastmasters Club! We will also participate in the Tottori International Exchange Festival at the end of November, where we plan to host a booth and present a speech demonstration on stage. 3名のアイスブレーカーと1名のPath最終プロジェクト！トーストマスターズの学びの魅力を再発見
すっかり過ごしやすい季節となった鳥取。運動会や遠足などのイベントに、おいしい秋の味覚と、楽しみが盛りだくさんの季節です。そんな中、鳥取トーストマスターズクラブの10月例会は、まさに「学びの秋」を満喫する1日となりました！
今回は、岡山からエリアディレクターと前ディビジョンディレクターのお二人にも、はるばるお越しいただきました。
例会は、新メンバー1名の入会式からスタート。続く準備スピーチセッションでは、なんと4名のスピーカーが登場し、大いに盛り上がりました！
そのうち3名は、トーストマスターズで初めて披露するスピーチ「アイスブレーカー」に挑戦。自己紹介や入会のきっかけなど、それぞれが自分らしい言葉とスタイルでスピーチを披露しました。
そして4人目のスピーチは、Pathwaysの学習プログラムにおけるPathの最終プロジェクト「Reflect on Your Path」。Pathを開始してから最終プロジェクトに至るまでの7年間の道のりを振り返り、その中で得た学びや気づきをメンバーと共有しました。
初めてのスピーチに挑むメンバーと、長い学びの道のりを振り返るメンバー。一人ひとりが異なるステージに立ちながら、それぞれのペースで学び、成長できる。 そんなトーストマスターズの魅力を改めて感じられるセッションとなりました。
続くテーブルトピックスセッションのテーマは「Convince（説得する）」。ある考えや意見に強くこだわる相手を、どのように説得するかにチャレンジしました。相手の考えや行動を変えるためには、どんな言葉やアプローチが効果的なのでしょうか？日常生活でも実践できそうなコミュニケーションの工夫が次々に登場し、創造性あふれるセッションとなりました。
さて、来月は鳥取トーストマスターズクラブの設立17周年を祝うスペシャルランチを企画しています！さらに11月末には、「とっとり国際交流フェスティバル」にてブース出展とステージでのスピーチデモンストレーションを予定しています。どちらのイベントも皆さまのご参加をお待ちしております。ぜひお気軽にお越しください！
