Kicking Off 2026 with a Distinguished Meeting — and a New Year’s Card from a Former Member!

Our very first meeting of 2026 took place on a day marked by a heavy snow warning and slippery conditions. Despite the challenging weather, the members who gathered shared an energetic and inspiring meeting together.

At the beginning of the meeting, we enjoyed a stylish and motivating video created by our club president, outlining goals for the new year. We also shared a New Year’s card and wonderful photos sent by a former member who once belonged to Tottori Toastmasters Club and has since returned to their home country.

Even after leaving Tottori, they still remember us, which truly warmed our hearts. We sincerely hope they will visit us again someday, as Tottori will always be their second home.

During the meeting, two prepared speakers delivered heartfelt and distinguished speeches that deeply moved the audience. The evaluations praised the strengths of each speaker’s story while also offering constructive and encouraging suggestions for further improvement.

In the Table Topics session, participants took on the role of “Japan’s representative” and challenged themselves to explain Japanese customs and aspects of Japanese culture with humor. While some moments prompted us to think, “How would I explain this?”, the use of gestures and expressions made the session lively and enjoyable.

Next month marks the beginning of contest season! At our February meeting, members who will be competing in the Area Contest are scheduled to present their contest speeches.

2026年もDistinguishedな例会からスタート！過去メンバーからのニューイヤーカードも届きました★

2026年最初の例会は、大雪警報が出るほど足元の悪い一日となりましたが、集まったメンバーで熱気あふれる例会を開催しました。

例会の冒頭では、会長が作成した新年の目標をテーマにした、とてもスタイリッシュで印象的な動画が上映されました。さらに、かつて鳥取トーストマスターズクラブに在籍し、現在は母国へ帰国された元メンバーから届いたニューイヤーカードと素敵な写真も、会員同士でシェアされました。

鳥取を離れても私たちのことを覚えていてくださることに、心が温かくなります。ぜひ「第二の故郷」として、また遊びに来ていただけたら嬉しいですね。

例会では、2名の準備スピーカーが心温まるDistinguishedなスピーチを披露し、会場は感動に包まれました。論評では、それぞれのスピーカーのストーリーの魅力を称えつつ、次回につながる建設的な改善点も丁寧に共有されました。

テーブルトピックスでは、「日本の代表」になりきり、「日本の習慣」や「日本の物事」についてユーモアを交えて説明する即興スピーチに挑戦しました。「そういえば、これってどう説明するんだろう？」と頭を悩ませながらも、身振り手振りを交えた楽しいセッションとなりました。

来月はいよいよコンテストシーズンが開幕します。鳥取クラブの2月例会では、エリアコンテストに出場予定のメンバーによるコンテストスピーチの披露を予定しています。
